The Bhartiya Janta Party has demanded the removal of district returning officer (collector) of Chhindwara district. BJP said that CM Kamal Nath has used a religious place for election campaign and the returning officer has helped him indirectly. A BJP delegation submitted the complaint on Wednesday. It said CM Kamal Nath had used a temple premises for election campaigning and violated the Model Code of Conduct.
The complaint said that by-election for assembly constituency and Lok Sabha polls are scheduled on April 29 in Chhindwara. Kamal Nath addressed an election meeting at Pandurna. The programme was organised by Navdurga Mandir Samiti and a banner was put up by the samiti welcoming him. Simultaneously Congress banner was also put up with pictures of Sonia Gandhi and Kamal Nath.
Nath had appealed for votes for self and his son Nakul Nath for Lok Sabha election in complete violating model code of conduct. BJP has alleged that the district returning officer did not conduct videography of the event thereby helping Kamal Nath.
