The BJP and the Congress have swung into action to bring the rebels back to their respective party folds by asking them to withdraw their nomination forms. While CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken up the mantle of quelling rebellion in the BJP, ex-CM Digvijaya Singh is dealing with the Congress rebels. Chouhan is also talking to thr leaders, who, for not getting tickets from the party, have filed nomination forms.
Chouhan held a meeting with election in charge in MP Dharmendra Pradhan, Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar and organisational general secretary Suhash Bhagat to find out ways pacify the rebels. The leaders of the organisation spoke to ex-MP Ramkrishna Kusmaria, ex-minister KL Agarwal and Raghav Ji to placate them.
For not getting ticket, more than six ex-legislators of the BJP have raised a banner of revolt and filed nomination. BJP was considering to send some leaders to their homes to convince them to return to the party, Tomar was talking to the rebels over phone throughout the day on Saturday.
For the Congress, Singh is trying to work out a formula to pacify the rebels. He spoke to Pradeep Jaiswal who has filed nomination from Bara Seoni, Jaisingh Darbar from Ujjain south, Kamalesh Khandelwal from Indore-1, Brajraj Singh Chauhan from Sheopur and others, asking them to withdraw nomination.
Singh may hold discussion with the rebels in Bhopal on November 14, the last day of withdrawing nomination. He may also visit the house of Satyavrat Chaturvedi, who, upset with the party, and has fielded his son from the Samajwadi Party (SP). Singh said Chaturvedi’s son joining the SP not only saddened him but also shocked him. The attempt by senior leaders of both the parties to quell rebellion indicates, that if the rebels do not withdraw nomination, the results will rattle both the parties.
