Bhopal: Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party, after uproar in state assembly over election of speaker and deputy speaker, has lodged a complaint with the President Ramnath Kovind in Delhi. The BJP MLAs, led by ex-CM Shivraj Singh and leader of opposition Gopal Bhargava met the President on Saturday.
The MLAs told the President that assembly speaker and deputy speaker were elected without following the rules and procedure. They claimed that the proposals of assembly speaker and deputy speaker of the BJP were not given chance to be read in the House.
Chouhan, talking to the media, said the President was told about the arbitrary functioning and not listening to the opposition. Chouhan said the pro-tem speaker and assembly speaker did not follow the rules and procedure of election. Chouhan said the elections were illegal.
Chouhan said the President was requested to take decision according to law. In the elections in the House on January 8, NP Prajapati was elected as speaker while Hina Kanwre of Congress was elected deputy speaker on January 10. BJP’s candidates were also in fray but it staged walk-out following a dispute on election of assembly speaker. BJP MLAs created uproar during deputy speaker’s elections. The BJP had submitted a memorandum to Governor Anandiben Patel in this matter.
