BHOPAL: The State Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, who do not tire of saying that the party workers are their Gods, will make merry on the money painstakingly collected by the ordinary workers as ‘Aajivan Sahyog Nidhi’.
The party would be spending around Rs one crore on lodging and boarding arrangements for the party leaders attending the one-and-a-half-day training camp at Pachmarhi on Tuesday.
It is the party workers, who go from door-to-door to collect the ‘Nidhi’ which is deposited in the party fund. The said ‘Nidhi’ would be spent on merry-making in the name of training session.
The meetings of the cabinet and tourism cabinet will also be held at Pachmarhi on the same day. Around two dozen top officers are preparing to leave for the picturesque hill station in connection with the cabinet meeting. Their trip would be sponsored by the hard-earned money of the common man – this when the finance department is summarily rejecting proposals for allocation of funds for projects meant for the welfare of the common man on the ground of resource crunch.
Earlier, the government had spent lakhs on holding cabinet meeting at Hanuvantia, an enchanting resort in the backwaters of the Indira Sagar Project.
As many as 150 rooms in luxury hotels in Pachmarhi have been booked for those attending the training camp. A whopping sum of around 50 lakhs would be spent on accommodation alone. Lavish arrangements have been made for the meals of the trainees. The camp would be a luxurious affair, notwithstanding Sar Sanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat’s advice to party leaders to observe simplicity in life, during his recent tour the state. The RSS chief had cited instances from the life of Janasangh ideologue Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya to buttress his point.
The training camp, to be organised at Glen View Hotel, will be attended by ministers, MLAs, state-level office bearers and organisational secretaries.
Besides, lodging arrangements have also been made at Champak Bungalow, Rock End Manor, Nandan Van, Neelambar, Karnikar, Devdas, Panchwati, Hilltop, Misty Meadows and Park View.
BJP spokesman Rajnish Agarwal said the money collected through the ‘Nidhi’ is utilised to meet the expenses of party organisation only whereas expenses on such programmes are met through separate funds.
