BHOPAL: The state BJP has initiated preparation for the upcoming electoral battle. As the first step, it has already appointed state-level office-bearers and in-charge of various divisions. They will directly report to state organisational general secretary Suhas Bhagat and provide feedback on activities of people’s representatives and party’s district units.
The BJP’s well-oiled party machinery, of late, has slackened a bit. With the government organising one grand programme after another, party’s activities have become less visible. The issue came up prominently at party core committee meeting, which decided to take immediate remedial measures. After the appointment of new district unit heads, divisional in-charges have also been announced. The new team of BJYM would also be put in place soon.
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan would start hosting ‘tiffin parties’ in districts soon. However, before that efforts are afoot to resolve party workers’ grievances. The party wants to ensure that the chief minister does not face any opposition or embarrassment during his visits.
State party chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan has been side-lined and Suhas Bhagat now holds the reins of party organisation. This has been done with the consent of top BJP and RSS leaders. The BJP is concerned about impending elections to 52 municipal bodies. The party fears that it may not fare well in the polls. The chief minister has directed party organisation to pay attention to these municipal areas.
Ministers and divisional in-charges have been asked to participate in district-level meetings so as to feel people’s pulse and get accurate feedback from the ground level. Party national chief Amit Shah is to embark on a nation-wide tour soon as part of BJP’s preparations for 2019 Lok Sabha polls. He will also be visiting Madhya Pradesh to spur party organisation into action in wake of upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly polls.
