Bhopal: The District and Sessions court, Bhopal convicted four members of banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and acquitted five including Dr Abu Faizal on Thursday in four separate cases—having explosives, use of explosives, involved in terrorist activities and hatching conspiracy for various terrorist activities.
On December 31, 2014, the ATS had raided in Mahidpur, Ujjain district and arrested nine SIMI activists with explosives. Those who have been convicted are Javed Nagori, Abdul Aziz, Mohammad Adil and Abdul Wahid while Dr Abu Faizal, Irfan Nagori, Sajid alias Guddu, Umer and Sadiq have been acquitted.
They were arrested in Ujjain and 12 IEDs, 900 gelatin sticks and 600 detonators were recovered from them. Nagori was arrested from his home. About 200 gelatin sticks and 100 detonators hidden by the accused in the water tank of an air cooler were recovered by the ATS team. Zuber, a motor mechanic, was also arrested on the basis of information provided by Sajid Hussain, who had surrendered before the ATS in Bhopal.
Advocate Pervez Alam who appeared on behalf of the SIMI activists said, “Four SIMI activists have been convicted while five Dr Abu Faizal, Irfan Nagori, Sajid alias Guddu, Umer and Sadiq have been acquitted. ADJ Girish Dixit passed this order.”
