BHOPAL: Following the ban on campaigning imposed by the Election Commission of India on the Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, she remained busy in visiting temples and singing devotional songs (Bhajan), here on Thursday. Meanwhile BJP has filed a review petition against the ban in the ECI.
The ECI has banned Sadhvi for 72 hours from attending any public meeting, procession and activities which comes under the category of election campaigning, beginning 6 am. The Sadhvi and others made visits to various temples and offered pooja, she also visited the Shourya Smarak and observed the martyr history. During her visit she sang bhajans along with other party members and local devotees.
Ready to offer unconditional apology
On the other hand a party delegation visited the ECI office in New Delhi and presented the review petition. The Sadhvi had given a controversial statement on the Babri Masjid and the ECI had banned her from campaigning for 72 hours after conducting an enquiry into the matter. BJP media coordinator Dr Hitesh Vajpyee said the leader in her petition had requested that the ban be withdrawn. She had claimed that, she had not stated any objectionable statement on the Babri Masjid which had created communal disharmony in Bhopal.
She also claimed that the district returning officer had not sent any report into the matter in which she had been found guilty. She has also stated that she is ready to offer an unconditional apology and in future will not give a chance on complaint. She also added that she had already withdrawn her statement against Hemant Karkare and assured that such acts will not be repeated. She also stated that she had expressed her pain of nine years in prison, ‘with not guilty’. She also claimed that even the Court had accepted that she was not guilty of MCOC Act.
