Bhopal: Babu-doom for officers whose names surfaced in recent I-T raids?

The income tax department after conducting raids on the establishments of confidants of Chief Minister Kamal Nath is now gearing up to tighten its noose around the bureaucrats.  According to sources in I-T department, chief vigilance commissioner, central bureau of investigation (CBI) and directorate of personnel and training (DoPT) would be informed about the names of bureaucrats found in the raids.

The department is also preparing to hand over the information about businessmen and other people to other investigating agencies. The foreign exchange and the information about briefcase companies recovered during the raids would be handed over to the enforcement directorate (ED).  I-T department has made its raids details public by issuing a press release. It is first time in the state that the details of the raids were shared with the media, so promplty. The department will also share the information with the agencies about the raids in a couple of days so that they could begin their action.

The central agencies are also gathering information about the officers who are close to the Congress-led government. Action may be taken against such officers in the coming time.  The I-T sleuths in their raids have recovered documents showing large-scale financial transactions. The computers, laptops and other electronic devices of RK Miglani, advisor to the Chief Minister Kamal Nath, officer- on- special- duty (OSD) Pravin Kakkad,Ashwini Sharma and others have been seized by the I-T sleuths. Further action would be taken on the basis of information recovered from these devices.
