HOSHANGABAD: An award distribution function was organised at Government Postgraduate Home Science College on Thursday. The function began with the garlanding of a statue of goddess Saraswati. Chief guest was MLA representative Monika Choukse.
Dr Sangeeta Ahirwar, who conducted the programme, gave an account of the different competitions organised by the college for the students.
Choukse, in her speech, said failure was the stepping stone to success. She urged the students never to lose hope. Principal Kamini Jain, in memory of her mother, handed over Rs 1,000 in cash to Priti Manjhi, a talented student of the college. Congratulating the winners, she urged them to work harder.
Kusum Maurya and Seema Ahirwar were given gold medals under ‘Versatile Talent Award Scheme’. Seven others were feted with silver medals. Ahirwar said 38 students who had won the first prize in in-house competitions, 18 students who had taken part in state-level sports contests and Shivani Bahadur and Prema Yadav of the college, who were part of the NCC contingent at the Republic Day Parade were also given awards.
Sports officer Jyoti Jungare, Taiyyaba Khatoon, Rashim Shrivastava, Sujata Ganguly, Kanchan Thakur, Kailash Dongre, Rashim Soni, Neelam Chaudhary, Reena Malaviya and a large number of students were present at the function.
