If the reports making rounds have anything to go by, Bharatiya Janata Party is mulling over fielding BJP state general secretary VD Sharma from Govindpura. The decision would anything but give a huge jolt to veteran leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Gaur, who has been representing the seat for decades. According to sources, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is also backing Sharma’s candidature from Govindpura constituency.
In a bid to give ticket to Sharma from Govindpura seat, deliberations are on in the party to convince Gaur to agree to contest polls from Bhopal North seat. In case Gaur refuses, then his daughter-in-law Krishna Gaur could be given ticket from Bhopal North seat.
Gaur said he was seeking ticket to his daughter-in-law from Govindpura seat. Sources said Gaur also fears that the RSS may let VD Sharma get ticket from Govindpura seat. Although, mayor Alok Sharma, Tourism Development Corporation, chairman, Tapan Bhaumik and chief spokesman Deepak Vijayvargiya are also contending but the ticket would be given either to Krishna or VD.
