HOSHAGABAD: After a customer complained of Bank of India ATM located near bus stand dispensing Rs 50 currency notes, the bank management shut down the cash dispensing machine and initiated an inquiry.
Varsha Choure of village Raisalpur reached the ATM of BoI at around 2.30 pm on Saturday. She used her card to withdraw Rs 1000. The machine dispensed one Rs 500, three Rs 100 and two Rs 50 note. That added up to Rs 900. When Varsha complained to the security guard posted at the ATM, she was asked to contact the branch manager. The manager Abid Hussain immediately got the ATM shut and summoned Manish Yadav of the cash management service which handles the job of replenishing the machines and asked him to find out how Rs 50 notes found their way into the machine. He also arranged for the payment of the remainder Rs 100 to Varsha.
It may be mentioned here that ATMs only dispense Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes. It was baffling how Rs 50 notes were stocked in the machine. Some time back an ATM located at Collectorate Road had dispensed a Rs 20 note. The customer concerned had lodged a complaint with the branch manager.

“According to Varsha Chaure, she used her BoB card to withdraw to withdraw Rs 1000 from BoI ATM. The machine dispensed only Rs 900, including two Rs 50 denomination notes. Her complaint has been taken seriously. The agency authorised to replenish the ATMs has been asked to find out how this happened. Tough action will be against anyone found guilty.”
