HOSHANGABAD: District collector Avinash Lavania, at a function organised at Government Narmada College auditorium on Wednesday, feted Atal Bal Palaks for their contribution towards combating malnutrition among children of the district. Paediatrician Dr Anand Pathak, district mineral officer Shashank Gupta, Manish Gupta, Shahida Ali, Ashutosh Shukla, Rekha Dubey, Neha Verma and Anita Malviya were also feted by presenting commendation certificates and mementoes.
On this occasion, district panchayat CEO PC Sharma, district programme officer, woman and child development Sanjay Tripathi, Atal Bal Palak and social workers Neerja Fauzdar, Dr BM Malvi, Dr LL Sharma, Anil Agarwal, members of Adarsh Mahila Club and a large number of Aaganwadi workers were present.
Lavania said that Atal Bal Palak scheme was launched in the district with public co-operation to improve services provided by Aaganwadis. Under the scheme, prominent citizens, social workers and common people are making commendable contribution to improving nutritional status of children in the district. This innovative scheme is being replicated all over the state. He said that the administration was committed to fulfilling its promise of making the district malnutrition-free within the next year. So far, he said, 332 persons have adopted 350 Aaganwadis and through them, more than 5,000 under-weight children are being helped to achieve proper nutritional status.
PC Sharma showered profuse praises on Atal Bal Palaks and other citizens who are contributing to the scheme. He appealed to all those present to join the effort. The collector also adopted an Aaganwadi and arranged for cooler and other facilities for the children.
