Bhopal: The mercury reached 43.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday, which was the hottest day of the season in State capital so far. Blazing sun increased the discomfort of the denizens here as they refrained from moving outside their houses and establishments.
Relief from the sultry heat appears unlikely any time soon, as the mercury continues to sour making day hotter and night warmer. City recorded minimum temperature of 29.3 degree Celsius. Temperature in country’s cleanest city, Indore, also touched 42.5 degree Celsius, while it recorded minimum temperature 24 degree Celsius.
In Central India a trough is seen extending from East Uttar Pradesh to Vidarbha across East Madhya Pradesh. Due to lack of moisture, the trough will not lead to any weather activity over the region, but isolated activities cannot be ruled out Temperature in parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are crossing 43 degree Celsius mark and some places even touched 45 degrees.
Meanwhile, light rain is likely at Gwalior, Chambal, Shahdol and Rewa divisions and Tikamgarh, Chhattarpur, Chhindwara, Balaghat, Jabalpur and Seoni districts in the next 24 hours.
According to Meteorological department, a trough is extending from this system up to Northwest Madhya Pradesh. Rain, thundershower and dust storm might occur over South Madhya Pradesh and other parts of central and northern regions. However, western parts of Madhya Pradesh still facing burnt of scorching heat and heat wave. Temperature is likely to soar further in the days to come just because of trough passing through north-west belt.
