Bhopal: More than six months have passed since the first advertisement for post of assistant professors exam but the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) is yet to release the exam date. The MP Guest faculty association President DP Singh raised question on the information released by the MPPSC and said, “The commission had not clarified the mode of examination or the exam date.”

The MPPSC deputy secretary Dinesh Jain told Free Press, “How the commission can release the date of examination before completion of the form filling process. The last date for the applying for the post is May 10.” Cancellations of advertisement, amendment in rules and change of criteria have caused the delays. The process of application is due to be over by May 11and sources in MPSC say that a date will be announced only after the evaluation of applications.

“The commission would evaluate the number the candidate till the evening of May 11 and release the date of exam accordingly. The commission would conduct the examination through online mode”, added Jain. MPSC has to cancel the advertisement because of anomalies including different age criteria for aspirants having a domicile of MP than for the ones from other states and a change in the number of backlog seats reserved for SC/ST.

Besides, the commission advertised only 2, 500 posts of assistant professors in December last year for degree colleges across the state consequently, the commission issued a fresh one for 3,422 posts of assistant professor in March 2018. However, the story of amendments in ad does not stop here; the commission had to amend the advertisement for more than a dozen times.

It added 52 posts of assistant professor to it for Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Mhow on April 25. Meanwhile, the state amended the recruitment rules of 1990 on April 23, 2018, scraping the interview in selection process. However, the amended rule is meant for this year only.

Details so far

The MPPSC detailed about the selection process in the information brochure that states, the applicants have to qualify a written exam of 400 marks with 200 questions divided in four sections. The applicants will be given three hours for the exam and the guest faculty will be given 20 extra marks on their experience certificate.
