Bhopal: The Congress state president Arun Yadav was forced to leave the MLAs’ meeting, chaired by the AICC general secretary and state in-charge Deepak Bawaria, held at PCC office on Tuesday.  The meeting also witnessed some acrimonious scenes when the supporters of Kamal Nath demanding his appointment as a state president, crowded around Bawaria raising slogans in favour of their leader.

As Bawaria began the meeting of the elected representatives at the party office, MLA Tarun Bhanot firmly protested the presence of the PCC president Arun Yadav in the meeting. “The party has suffered collateral damage in the leadership of Arun Yadav and during his tenure the party had descended to lifetime bottom,” Bhanot said. On this Yadav asked Bhanot that they will talk over the issue later, however the latter refused saying: “No whatever you want to talk it will be done here”. MLAs present at the meeting cheered Bhanot. Another MLA Arif Aqueel told Bawaria, that the meeting is scheduled for only elected members and they should remain present. Some of the other MLAs who were present in the meeting seconded Aqueel. Sensing the mood of the meeting, state president Arun Yadav and state general secretary Chandrika Prasad Dewdi left the hall. Yadav directly went to his chamber and started interacting with other party workers.Meanwhile, the MLAs raised various issues, including the alleged anomalies in the recently concluded organisational election for PCC delegates at block and district level. The MLAs alleged that some changes were made in Bhopal in the list of the elected delegates which was submitted by the block and district returning officers. Some new names were added in the list in Bhopal, the MLAs alleged.

AICC general secretary also held one-to-one talks with the MLAs. Jaivardhan Singh suggested that in few selected constituencies the names of party candidates should be declared six months before as this would give them time to prepare themselves for the polls.  Bawaria, however got a rude shock when he came out of after holding consultations with the elected representatives and others. The supporters of Member of Parliament Kamal Nath stopped him from moving ahead and raising slogans in favour of their leader demanded that he be appointed party state president. Much to the embarrassment of the PCC members, for almost 15 minutes the supporters of MP did not let Bawaria to move. Security guards had to struggle hard to free Bawaria from the supporters who had crowded around him.
