HOSHAGABAD: Faiz Ahmed Kiwai, MD of State Civil Supplies Corporation and director, food Vivek Porwal reviewed the preparations for procurement of wheat at MSP in the division at a meeting at collectorate here on Friday. Kidwai said all arrangements should be made in time. Arrangements for weighing machines and gunny bags and for testing the quality of wheat should be put in place at all the purchase centres. The payment for the procured wheat should be made to the farmer positively within seven days. The collectors should periodically review the progress of the procurement, transportation and storage of wheat.
He said the government estimated that around 14.67 thousand MTs of wheat would be procured in Narmadapuram division this year. As many as 288 purchase centres had been set up in the division. The purchase would be made by State Marketing Federation through co-operative societies from 1.20 lakh registered farmers at the rate of Rs 1,625 per quintal, which had been fixed by the government. Avinash Lavania, collector, Hoshangabad and Shrikant Banot, collector, Harda were present at the meeting, besides additional collector Manoj Sariyam and officials of the food and civil supplies, cooperatives and other departments concerned.
