Bhopal: Sending Bhopal police into a tizzy again, the Dial 100 emergency service of Madhya Pradesh police received a reportedly hoax call from an unknown caller claiming a bomb was there in city’s Courtyard by Marriott hotel located in MP Nagar here on Tuesday. The police found nothing in the hotel during checking.

Earlier on Monday evening Dial 100 control room had received a similar call from an unidentified caller who claimed a bomb was there on the premises of District and Sessions Court in Bhopal which also turned out to be a hoax. The last two hoax calls take the total tally of hoax calls to three in which the caller has threatened to blow up important establishments in Bhopal. Two days ago an unidentified caller called Dial 100 emergency service and threatened to blow up Bhopal and Habibganj railway stations. According to city superintendent of police (MP Nagar), Kulwant Singh, Dial 100 received a call at about 10.30 pm from an unidentified caller claiming a bomb was placed at Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

“Soon after getting the information, police force along with dog squad and bomb disposal squad rushed to the hotel to conduct a search operation. Every room, lounges, wash rooms of the whole hotel were searched during the operation which continued till 2 pm but nothing suspicious was found. Investigations are on to trace and nab the caller,” added Singh. After the repetition of hoax calls twice in the last 48 hours in the state capital, the state police have now vowed to take stern action against the accused callers.

“We have taken action against people making hoax calls to Dial 100 service and would continue to take action further. Genuine calls informing the police about suspicious materials kept in public places are welcome but hoax calls wasting precious time and resource of the police would be dealt with firmly,” said IG (law and order) Makrand Deuskar while speaking to Free Press. Deuskar also said the police had caught accused callers in the past incidents in which maximum turned out to be children calling the emergency number just for fun.

“Many of them turned out to be children while many were found mentally disturbed. While in many cases it was found that many of the accused had called by borrowing their friends’ mobile phone deliberately to trap their friends in the police net. The children and the mentally disturbed cannot be punished but the adults who deliberately called would be prosecuted now,” he added.
