Bhopal: Agriculture minister Sachin Yadav is continuously changing his stand on the implementation of Bhawantar Yojana in the state. Yadav, earlier, had decided to scrap the scheme terming it as harmful for the farmers. However, after former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s protest and intervention from top level in Congress, Yadav is now saying of launching a new scheme by removing discrepancies of Bhawantar Yojana. Yadav, interacting with media on Tuesday, said the discrepancies in the scheme will be removed and the scheme, more beneficial to the farmers, will be launched.
Congress had been opposing Bhawantar Yojana from the beginning, however, there is no mention of closing the scheme in its ‘Vachan Patra’. The BJP government had said that farmers will be given Rs 500 per quintal on Soybean and Corn under the scheme.
With the change in the government, it is yet to be decided whether to extend the issue of giving additional money on crop yield or take a decision on it after Lok Sabha elections. The farm loan waiver has been putting a lot of financial burden on the government. The government is mulling over giving other financial incentives to the farmers but decision could not be taken due to upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
