BHOPAL: The Professional Examination Board (PEB) is facing a severe staff crunch, which is affecting its performance. More than 50 percent posts in the PEB are vacant.
PEB director Bhaskar Lachakar informed The Free Press Journal that because of shortage of staff, the PEB is not able to announce results in time. The staff is working round-the-clock without taking weekly offs. The weekly offs are cancelled unofficially to prepare the results on time.
Out of 18 senior posts, 12 posts are vacant. Two out of five posts of joint controller are vacant. Similarly, two posts of joint directors are also vacant and so also the single post of principal system analyst; out of five posts of deputy controller, three are vacant, two posts of deputy director are also vacant. The only post of senior system analyst is also vacant and one out of two posts of assistant director is also vacant. Against 205 sanctioned posts only 104 employees are working and 99 posts are vacant.
The announcement of the results of two exams conducted in the month of December last year and January this year are being delayed due to this. The board officials are working hard to declare the results, but staff shortage is coming in the way.
