Bhopal: Home minister Bala Bachchan’s reply in the House giving clean chit to police in Mandsaur firing incident, has stirred a political storm. Former chief minister Digvijaya Singh has taken serious objection to the minister’s statement. Chief Minister Kamal Nath, after Singh’s annoyance, has asked Bachchan to call press conference and give clarification.

Singh also showed his annoyance over forest minister Umang Singhar on his reply on plantation on the banks of river Narmada. Singh said he did 3100-kilometre long Narmada Parikrama and forest minister does not know much about the banks of Narmada river.

Bachchan, giving clarification on the issue, said the reply was given on the basis of documents of previous BJP government. Judicial probe commission has submitted its report on firing incident and the report is being examined, said the home minister adding, re-probe may be initiated if the report, after examination is found unsatisfactory.

“The state government has not given clean chit to anyone. I had addressed farmers as ‘violent mob’ on the basis of probe done by the previous government,” the minister clarified. Bachchan stated that he has apprised Digvijay Singh about the actual position.

Bachchan also said that the guilty of firing incident and those who prepared the reply would not be spared. Singh had expressed his annoyance over Bachchan’s reply and had said that he did not accept the clean chit given by Bachchan. Singh said the replies of ministers showed that they were defending the BJP government.

Targeting the government, Leader of opposition in Assembly Gopal Bhargava said Congress had made the Mandsaur firing incident a big issue. It was done to gain votes and now reply in the House is given just to save the officers, said the BJP leader.

Clean chit to Shivraj govt on Simhastha

Congress, during opposition, may be leveling allegations during Simhastha, but it has given clean chit to the previous BJP government after coming to power. Urban administration minister Jaivardhan Singh, replying to a written question in the House, said there were no irregularities in Simhastha.

Singh also replied that no inquiry orders were given to probe into Simhastha and no probe orders would be issued now. Singh said he did not receive the report of the committee constituting former in charge leader of opposition and other members on Simhastha.

Diggy mum on son’s reply

Meanwhile, Digvijaya Singh, who was annoyed over giving clean chit on plantation and Mandsaur firing incident to previous state government, did not make any comment on his son’s statement.
