Bhopal: Admission process ends leaving students, parents in a lurch

Bhopal: The last day to take admission in medical and dental colleges turned chaotic leaving both students and their parents in quandary. The admission process that began at administrative academy later ended with a demonstration at CM house. Earlier the directorate of medical education asked the students not to register themselves for the first and second round of the counselling, but the DME asked them to register for the left out round.

The students alleged that when the DME issued the list of first round the merit was 425, but in the second list it raised to 665 marks. In normal cases the first list always goes higher and the second list always go lower compared to first. Not only this, the students who had never filled the choice of the BDS course they started getting the offers form the dental colleges to take admission.

Nikita Arya informed “I had never ever filled the choice for the dental course, I am having proper merit to get admission in the MBBS course”.

The other student Pragya Sayji alleged “The students of state domicile are still running pillar to post, but the domicile of other state are getting admission in the state colleges”.

The DME have issued the list of students and have sent to the medical and dental colleges. In them the names of those are displayed who had already got the admission in AIIMS and other medical colleges of various states, but they are vacant in the state merit list. Mukesh Sahu father of Ayush Sahu informed “Ayush is sitting at one medical college, his mama is sitting at other college, and my elder son is sting at another college, because we don’t know in which college his name will be displayed”.

Student Vishal Pratap Singh from Uttar Pradesh showed messages on his mobile that the consultant are sending messages, in which it is asked to pay Rs 30 lakh as a donation and Rs 7 lakh as a annual fees and get the admission. The other students also alleged that “We are not knowing that our names had been came under the cut off marks, but the colleges are knowing about our marks”.

Medical education commissioner Sheo Shekhar Shkula informed that after the end of second round 164 seats were remaining vacant in the MBBS course.

For the Mop up round at 4 pm, the total 94 seats were remaining vacant in the MBBS courses and 616 seats in dental colleges.
