Bhopal: A committee headed by ACS, home would be constituted to frame rules for regulating cracker factories operating in the state. The committee would closely study the entire issue and submit its report to the government.
This was announced by home minister Bhupendra Singh in the House on Tuesday while replying to a call-attention motion on the blast in a cracker factory in Balaghat, which had left 25 persons dead.
The minister said a cell would be constituted for continuous monitoring of these factories. He said the government was doing everything it could to ensure that Balaghat-type accidents were not repeated.
LoP Ajay Singh said cracker factories should be banned in the Naxal-affected areas. Govind Singh said just as the government had suspended the collector and SP of Mandsaur, it should also take action against the collector and SP of Balaghat. Singh said had the factory been inspected by the authorities from time to time, the accident would not have taken place.
The minister insisted that the factory was inspected. He said a magisterial probe into the incident was underway and once its report came in, all the facts would come to light. He said it seemed the blast was the result of acts of omission and commission by the owner of the factory and that was why he had been booked under Section 304.
