BHOPAL : The state capital on Sunday achieved its seasonal target of 109cm rainfall in first fortnight in August. The city recorded 1.5cm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Ganjbasoda recorded 17cm rainfall, Sheopur Kalan and Khilchipur recorded 9cm, Rewa 8cm, Sagar and Chachora 7cm each.
During the next 24 hours heavy rain is also likely in Bhopal, Gwalior, Chambal divisions. Moisture incursion is consistently occurring in Madhya Pradesh because of which rainfall activities are likely to persist for the next couple of days in the state.
Alert has been issued for Rewa, Vidisha, Sagar, Satna, Seopur Kalan, Guna, Hoshangabad, Rajgarh, Raisen, Singaroli and Sidhi districts.
Warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for isolated places over Rewa, Panna, Satna, Chattarpur, Sagar, Damoh, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Jabalpur, Hoshangabad, Harda, Raisen and Vidisha districts.
As per the meteorological department, most of the wet spells are associated with the westward movement of monsoon depression from the Bay of Bengal, across the central parts of the country. Some of the wet spells of heavy rainfall activities are however associated with western disturbances moving across extreme north of the country. Current rain activities are due to low pressure areas over Chhattisgarh and trough line associated with rain activities is passing over the state.
