BHOPAL: Prominent jurist and Rajya Sabha member Ram Jethmalani has said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will make a clean sweep in the Punjab polls while Akhilesh Yadav will make it in Uttar Pradesh. “People won’t vote for crooks”, he said. However, he refused to predict the outcome of Goa polls saying he was not an astrologer.
Jethmalani was interacting with the media here on Friday. The nonagenarian lawyer said that PM Narendra Modi had completely failed in unearthing black money. “The fact is he was not interested in it”, he said.
He said that Congress government led by Manmohan Singh and the BJP government led by Narendra Modi both were governments of crooks and looters and were not interested in bringing the Rs 90 lakh crore of black money stashed in foreign banks back, even after Swiss and German authorities were ready to reveal the names of the depositors.
He said, “When Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister, German and Swiss governments offered to share the names of 1400 depositors of black money but the Manmohan Singh Government never showed interest. When Modi became PM, I was very much hopeful that he will take initiative in this regard but he too followed Manmohan Singh’s line”.
‘BJP wanted me to bailout Amit Shah’
Jethmalani said, “I was founder vice-president of the BJP. I was expelled in 2004. I was again invited to join BJP but later I realised that I was expected to bail Amit Shah out of court cases. Right now I am no more with BJP. But still there are some good people in politics so I am Rajya Sabha member at age of 94 from Bihar.
