BHOPAL: Aam Admi Party (AAP) raised the issue of power purchase from Amarkantak power project, during the hearing at Electricity Regularity Commission, on Tuesday. The Congress alleged MP was ranked 10th in India in power supply facilities. AAP state coordinator Alok Agarwal said Lanco power company Amarkantak was blacklisted by the state government in 2012, but after reviving the agreement the government was purchasing the power on higher rate.
He also claimed the company had made the agreement in 2005 to establish the production and obtained the coal block, environment permission and financial assistance from banks. But after getting the facilities the company broke the agreement and started selling power in open market. Now again the government was conducting the agreement and buying the power on higher cost.
Congress spokesperson Ravi Saxena claimed the ranking given by Union Power Ministry stated that in the state power cut was happening for more than 10 hours, whereas the chief minister claimed that his government was providing uninterrupted power supply in the state.
