Bhopal: With linking of Unique Identification Number (UID) with PAN made mandatory, Aadhar centres in the city were crowded with people seeking to update the details on their Aadhar card. Leaving all important works, people visited the centres and applied for the corrections in spelling of their name, or adding surname, mobile number, email id and month and day in their date of birth etc. To accommodate the Aadhar updating, the work of new enrolment for Aadhar cards has been temporarily stopped at most of the centres. The integration request from citizens will be rejected by I-T department if there is a mismatch between the Aadhar card details and Permanent Account Number (PAN) details.

“My Aadhar card was made in 2015 but I forgot to mention my surname. So, I visited here to add my surname,” said Raju Gaur, who works in a private firm. Poonam Mathur, an advocate who visited Atishay Ltd. Centre, MP Nagar Zone-1 along with her husband said, “We came here from Katara Hills to change my old address. Linking Aadhar with PAN has become compulsory, so we came here leaving my all important works.”

Mathur further said, “The process is very slow and also we are waiting for one hour, but still my work is not completed. By doing all this, the government is interfering in our privacy. Sarkar kuch bhi kar le… it is India, nothing will change.” Yashwant who works at Atishay Ltd. MP Nagar Zone -1, “Since to link Aadahar with PAN has become mandatory, most people visited here to make correction in their name, death of birth, mobile and address. Around 100 to 120 people are visiting daily for making corrections. Earlier 20 to 25 people used to come for making Aadhar cards.” He further said, “We have biometric system. So it takes only 10 minutes to complete.”

“We are mostly getting cases to add phone number and email id in Aadhar card. Since, it is offline work, it takes one week to complete. We charge Rs 60 per person for correction works,” said Divya Garg, who works at Sarthak Associates in MP Nagar Zone-2.” Ram Charan Chauhan, an inspector, said, “I came here to add month and day in my date of birth in Aadhar. I am getting problem in linking with PAN card.”
