Bhopal: Bollywood actor Anupam Kher minces no word when it comes to Article 370 that grants special status to Jammu & Kashmir.
A strong advocate of its abrogation, Kher says, “A bunch of people cannot be the arbitrators of Kashmiri people’s future. They may have their own selfish motives. I firmly believe that Constitutional provisions that are creating problems should be amended,” he added.
He further said that facilities being provided to Kashmiri youths should be extended to all youths across the country. In the city to attend Indo-Asean Youth Summit, he expressed his views on various current topics at Jehan Numa Palace Hotel on Monday. Referring to the recent changes in censor board, the 62-year-old actor said “It is good. Prasoon Joshi is a nice person.” However, he refused comment on working of former CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihlani.
“On a personal level, I believe that the norms applicable at home should also be application to the nation. We can’t have one set of rules for our homes and another for public consumption. We need to change our mindset. I think sabse jyada censorship gharon mein hona chahiye,” said the ace actor.
On being asked about members of Bollywood fraternity nominated to Rajya Sabha rarely attending the House, Kher said, “I don’t want to comment on it. But I can proudly say that my wife, who is a Lok Sabha member, lives in Chandigarh but attends the House regularly. Her attendance is 85 to 86 per cent.”
Turning to kids falling prey to online Blue Whale game, Kher said, “It is sad. There seems to be a lack of communication between parents and children. Parents need to keep an eye on what their children are surfing on the Net.”
He praised the film ‘Toilet, Ek Prem Katha’. “It is a very good movie and a great initiative for cleanliness. I would also like to congratulate Akshay Kumar for showing the courage to accept the film”.
