Bhopal: 9th convocation ceremony of National Law Institute University held with much fanfare

BHOPAL: The National Law Institute University organised its 9th Convocation ceremony on Sunday in its auditorium. The glittering ceremony had the benign presence of justice Sharad Arvind Bobde, judge, hon’ble Supreme Court of India and visitors of the university.

The function was presided over by the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh high court, justice Hemant Gupta. The director of the NLIU Prof SS Singh read the report of the University and the Registrar of the University lead the colourful and ceremonial Academic Procession which was be accompanied by the soul stirring national anthem.

A total of 137 students belonging to various streams namely, BA, LLB (honours), LLM (masters programme) and masters in Cyber Law and Information Security were awarded their respective degrees.

The University recognised the meritorious performance of students over the years by honouring them various medals. The University has six gold medals offered in the name of University Gold medal in the name of late Justice JS Verma, University gold medal in Prof VS Rekhi, the founder director of NLIU, Pandit Ramji Lal Sharma gold medal, Pratibha Dube gold medal for best women student, Justice Sachendra Dwivedi gold medal for best LLM student and Nani Palkiwala Gold medal for LLM.

The University also awarded Rizwan Shad Memorial Gold Medal exclusively to the best student of Cyber Law. There are also several silver medas for students of B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) in the name of Pandit Ramji Lal Sharma for meritorious performance in their respective years. All the gold and silver medals for the B.A. LL. B. (Hons.) went to Twinkle Chawla while Mohanty won two gold medals for master’s course.

The Chairman of the General Council and the Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Hemant Gupta declared the convocation opened and gave oath to students to remain steadfast to the virtues of the profession and to maintain honesty and integrity worthy of the teaching of the University and spirit of the profession.
