Bhopal: An 8-year-old girl, who was heading for her school in a Magic van died, and 6 other children sustained injuries after the vehicle they were in was hit by a dumper on Friday morning. The incident took place near Baah River Bridge under limits of Bairasia police station at around 08:30 am, when collision of dumper and school van led to a child’s death.
The sand laden dumper was coming from the side of Bairasia to Narsinghgarh side while the school van was coming from the opposite side. Two children are seriously injured. One of the injured is brother of deceased girl. The deceased Shyanu Gurjar is a resident of Habibganj Sarkhandi village. She was in the van with her sister Ranu and brother Kishanpal. As many as 12 children were travelling to school in the van.
According to investigation officer sub inspector BL Diwedi the school van was coming from the village and was heading towards the school located at the Bairasia area. The incident took place at around 08:30 am when the TATA magic van took turn after crossing the Baah river bridge, when the dumper coming from the opposite side hit it.
The collision led to the van being dragged to few meters when the girl Shyanu, who was sitting on the rearmost seat on driver’s side suffered a head injury and she died. The school owner’s relative and onlookers rushed the children to hospital where they were admitted. Two of the children were said to be having serious injuries.
Such was impact that the van got dismantled from inside and the girl sustained serious injuries in her head and other parts of the body. Her sister Ranu who was also inside escaped unhurt and her brother Kishanpal as well as another child Akash sustained serious injuries. According to the police, the driver of the school van is yet to be searched while driver and the cleaner of the dumper have been arrested.
