Bhopal: Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) master mind Abu Faizal and two other SIMI activists have been convicted for changing registration number of a motorcycle. ADJ Girish Dixit has awarded them imprisonment of seven years under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
On January 28, 2010, Abu Faizal with Sarafat Ali and Mohammed Aslam snatched a bike (MP-05-MB-6430) from resident Kamlesh Rathore at SBI, Itarsi. Later on, they changed the registration number to MP-13-MB-5837. Mohammed Aslam was killed in police encounter.
Public prosecutor Rajendra Upadhyaya said, “Abu Faizal has been awarded three years of imprisonment under Section 379 of IPC and seven years under Section 468 of IPC. Besides, fine of Rs 1,000 has also been slapped. Sarafat Ali has been awarded three years of imprisonment under Section 411 of IPC while seven years under Section 468 of IPC.”
SIMI master mind Abu Faizal has already been convicted for life in murder of police constable Sitaram Yadav in Khandwa in 2009. Faizal and 17 other SIMI activists have been convicted for raising slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bhopal court premises on May 17, 2014.
In addition, Abu Faizal was awarded lifer for attempting to kill BJYM president Pramod Tiwari and vice-president Raju Dubey in Khandwa on January 2, 2009. CJM court, on September 27, convicted Abu Faizal and others in connection with Khandwa jail break.
