Thandla: Central and State governments have implemented many public welfare schemes for rural residents in the country, but due to negligence and wide spread corruption among administrative officials, villagers of remote tribal region could not benefit from these schemes.
Even after over 68-years of Independence, about 32 families of Rosia Falia of Dewaka gram panchayat here are passing their life in darkness as there is no electricity in this village. At night, villagers live in fear of wild animals. In absence of electricity, children cannot study due to that their future is also being affected.
Villagers have lodged many complaints during public hearings before Jhabua district collector. But, nothing was done in this matter. When the villagers continued to lodge complaints, concerned department had installed some electricity poles in the village, but villagers are still waiting to see power in their houses.
Villagers’ problems increased more, when they were not able to get kerosene from the shops of public distribution system (PDS). The salesmen of fair price shops of PDS sold PDS kerosene in black market instead of giving to the villagers. Government has launched many public welfare schemes like ‘UJJAWALA’, Pt Deendayal Upaddhyay Gram Jyoti Yojna, Rajeev Gandhi Gram Vidyutikaran Yojna and others, but these villagers are not getting benefits of any such schemes due to wide spread corruption in government offices.
When the number of complaints with regard to this issue increased, government formed an electricity advisory committee to provide better electricity facilities to villagers. Committee members include Petlawad MLA Nirmala Bhuria as chairperson, Thandla MLA Kal Singh Bhabar, Jhabua MLA Shantilal Bilwal and others. Now, the residents of Rosiya Falia can expect that the committee members will hear their problems and provide electricity in their village.
