BHOPAL: A 65-year-old man was arrested for allegedly creating ruckus at the district collector’s office on Tuesday in Koh-e-Fiza. The collector was holding a public hearing session when the incident happened, the police said.
According to the police, identified as Kaluram Sahu of Chola Mandir area, he had gone to attend the public hearing. He claimed to be victim of communal riots in Chola Mandir locality in 1992 in which he sustained grievous injuries in one of his eyes and hands. He also claimed due to the injuries he got partially disabled and much of his money was spent in his treatment leaving no one in his family to earn the living.
He said he had attended at least 10 public hearing sessions pleading for a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for his treatment and to feed his family. But on Tuesday when his demand was not met by the officials at the collectorate, he lost his patience and vandalised the glass windows and doors of the collector’s office. Following the ruckus, the collectorate staff called the police and lodged a complaint against him, the police said.
“A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of IPC after which he was presented before the court, which sent him to judicial custody,” said station house officer, Koh-e-Fiza Anil Bajpai.
