Bhopal: Shocker! Of the 51 SPs in the state, only three could pass muster in an assessment done by the PHQ and even they could just scrape through. Last year, the PHQ had decided to launch a system for assessing the performance of the SPs on various parameters including maintenance of law and order, intelligence collection, disposal of complaints and utilisation of budget and training.
The assessment was done for the period April 1 to June 30, 2017 and would be done in future for every trimester. Balaghat superintendent of police Amit Sanghi has topped in the assessment, obtaining 76.55 per cent marks – just a shade above the qualifying 75 per cent.
The then SP of Seoni AK Pandey and then the SP of Ratlam Amit Singh have secured the second and third positions respectively.
All others have failed to obtain even the minimum marks. The DGP has congratulated the good performers and has asked the others to improve their work.
The assessment result will be incorporated in the annual confidential reports (ACR) of the SPs and the poor reformers may be removed from field postings. The DGP has also sought suggestions from the officers on new parameters that can be added to the assessment.
Eleven ADGs and the DGP assessed the performance. There were 30 marks for dealing with crimes and especially crimes against women and SC/STs, 25 for intelligence collection and 20 for administration, planning, management, training and complaints. Five marks were for accident control.
Bhopal, Indore SPs among worse performers
Among the ten worst performers were SPs of Bhopal, Indore, Mandsaur, Sagar, Satna, Singrauli, and Betul. Interestingly some of the SPs posted in these districts have been promoted as DIGs.
