BHOPAL: The health services in the state are not going to be better in coming months, because the department is not having any plans to fill the vacant posts of doctors. In the state around 4,000 posts of medical officers are vacant.
MP medical association’s Dr Lalit Shrivastava said due to non-recruitment of doctors, there was severe shortage in the hospitals. At present the number of specialist doctors was high in place of helping hands known as medical officers or doctors. In the state around 1,000 specialist and around 1,500 medical officers are present but around 4,000 posts of doctors are vacant.
He alleged due to irrational promotions a number of doctors had became super specialists and they had been out of general duties. In the district hospitals the number of specialist doctors was good, but the working hands like medical doctors and surgeons were very less. “As a result the doctors are getting beaten up by patient’s kin,” he added.
Earlier the ratio of MO and specialist was 75 and 25, but now it has changed to 55 and 45, which is not good for health services. Director of National Health Mission Dr BN Chouhan said for 2017-18 no new plans were proposed. The project implementation plan (PIP) of NHM had emphasised training, supervision and monitoring for the next financial year.
Whereas no new recruitments are planned, the NHM has decided to increase skill development of the staff. During last few years, it is found that the doctors, staff nurse, ANM, technician, management units and others are working in stereotype style; their skills have to be improved to enhance their working ability.
