BHOPAL: Four women and a minor girl of a family were killed when their car skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Kakarhati village near Panna on Friday night. The accident occurred when Mahesh Gupta of Kakarhati, was returning from Nagaod with his family, said SHO Kotwari Arvind Kujur. Gupta, who was driving, lost control over the vehicle near a culvert on Panna- Kakarhati road and it fell into the gorge.
Gupta, who was not familiar with the route, failed to negotiate the culvert and the car veered off the road and fell into a gorge, said the SHO. Four Munni Gupta (50), Anju Gupta (40), Jyoti Gupta (35) and Badi Gupta (35)- all the four died on the spot.
Another family member, a minor Puja Gupta- breathed her last on way to hospital. Gupta, too suffered injuries and was undergoing treatment at a hospital, police said. Citing the causes of accident, the SHO said that the car was moving on high speed and the driver Mahesh Gupta was new to the route. A local man would have negotiated the culvert very well.”
