Bhopal: Four students of Government Sarojini Naidu Girls PG College are pursuing their interests in painting, handicrafts and materials made from waste and earning a good sum of money. These students have put up stalls of items they make during annual function of Sarojini Naidu college. These girl students want to establish business in their field of interests.
Free Press talked to them during annual meet of the college. Excerpts
Nida Jaidi, BA II year student
I have been interested in photography since I was in class X. I turned a professional photographer in October last year. I have done some wedding shoots, shoots for making portfolios of girls, pre-wedding shoots, video-editing. I also do cinematographic work. I have begun to shoot commercials. I have not taken any professional training, my father has supported in my efforts.
Subhangi Gaikwad, BA (fine arts) II year
I am painting since my childhood. I won second and third prize for two consecutive years in painting competition organised at annual function of MANIT. Exhibition of my paintings were also organised many times. I want to make this bobby as a source of earning.
Nikita Sahu, B Com final year
I have been selling ornaments made of semi precious stones designed by me through online platform. I am run a page on Facebook and Instagram. Many women have ordered jewellery I design. I have started this business eight months ago and earned more than Rs 50,000.
Tripti Sharma, BCA student
I make decoration items from waste materials like paper, cloth, paper, plastic etc. I have been doing this for last eight years. The decoration materials I use are inexpensive but one can earn lot of money from them.
