Bhopal: 3 months after main budget, govt to present Rs 8,000cr suppl budget

Bhopal: Just three months after getting the assembly nod for a Rs 1.70 lakh crore annual budget, the state government will be tabling a supplementary budget for Rs 8,000 crore in the monsoon session of Vidhan Sabha. The supplementary budget was cleared in the cabinet meeting on Thursday. It will be presented in the House on July 21.The cabinet also cleared the other bills to be presented in the House.

The cabinet also amended the minor mineral rules, providing for seizure of vehicles found engaged in the transport of illegal minerals. However, the tractor-trolleys of persons transporting minerals for their personal use won’t be seized. The vehicles of government agencies would also be spared. Finance minister Jayant Mallaiya, while briefing the media on the decisions of the cabinet said, only vehicles transporting illegally-mined minerals for commercial use would be seized. He said death penalty couldn’t be imposed for every crime.

The cabinet also cleared a proposal regarding allotment of 260 hectares of land to Nuclear Power Corporation of India for Chutka Nuclear Power Project. It also cleared land purchase policy for land acquisition through mutual consent. The government has also decided to acquire the right to lay underground pipelines, ducts and cables for various projects on private land.

It also cleared a proposal to place 11 villages and 396 acres of nazul land out of the notified area of Pachmarhi sanctuary and to build an enclosure within the sanctuary for the remaining 28 villages. It also decided to extend the term of the judicial enquiry commission probing the incident of jailbreak by SIMI under-trials by three months.

Further, it cleared a proposal to provide necessary furniture and laboratory equipment to the high and higher secondary schools in the state in next three years.

Transfers to continue up to July 16

The deadline for transfers in the state has been extended once again. Now transfers will continue up to July 16. Minister for urban development Maya Singh told the cabinet that she could not clear transfers in her department as she was abroad. Agriculture minister Gaurishankar Bisen also wanted the date extended. The chief minister said he was extending the deadline up to July 16 but no further extension would be given.
