BHOPAL: Three BJP ministers Govind Singh Rajput, Pradyumn Singh Tomar and Mahendra Singh Sisodia along with MLA Munna Lal Goel on Monday dragged Congress leader Digvijay Singh to court for posting ‘traitor ration card’ on his social media page. A special court in Bhopal would take up their defamation case on November 18.
Earlier, BJP had filed a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) against Congress leader Digvijay Singh after latter posted a 'traitor rate card' on his social media account. Singh had alleged that Congress MLAs had left the party after receiving Rs 35 crore each. This had led to the fall of Congress government in March, this year.
As per the petition, the leader had further claimed that those who had received Rs 35 crore should return money to voters as per their share. The rate card posted on social media by Singh had led to controversy.
Advocate Mohammed Safiq, who filed the defamation case, said, “Following Singh’s post, people are asking questions in constituencies where bypolls are being conducted. Posting of traitor rate cards has defamed candidates in their respective constituency. So we have filed defamation in court. Next hearing is on November 18. We have also demanded suspension of such post from social media and there must be restriction on such practices in media as well as social media which dents reputation as well as image of politicians. If Digvijay Singh has proof, he should produce it before the public otherwise, it is useless and simply tactic to defame. So from ministers’ side, I have filed defamation case in Bhopal court.”
