A 27-year-old married woman, daughter-in-law of a retired policeman, committed suicide by setting her ablaze at her home on Friday. According to SHO Aditi Bhawsar, the deceased Neelam, wife of Kamlesh was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared dead after she was found in a charred state in the evening when she was rescued from first floor of her house. SHO Bhawsar said that circumstantial evidences suggest that the deceased committed suicide while other details could be provided after receiving post mortem report.
The family members of the deceased are yet to record their statements which could help in the investigation. The husband of the deceased runs a tea stall while father-in-law is a retired government employee, she added. The deceased sustained 90 percent burns which caused her death. In the initial investigation family members of deceased have not raised allegations against husband and his family members.
Police said that on the day of the incident deceased had returned around an hour back from her parent’s house. After the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem. A case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC and an investigation has been launched.
