Bhopal: Around 25 lakh students are still waiting to get the school uniform, although the academic session is going to end in just two months. Several irregularities has come to fore due to mismanagement at Rajya Siksha Kendra. It provides bicycles and uniform to the students studying in the government primary and middle schools of the state.
From 1st standard to 8th standard around 66 lakh students are entitled to get a pair uniform. To buy or to get uniform Rs 600 is allocated to each student. The earlier BJP government had decided that the uniforms will be stitched and provided by the self-help-groups.
The motive behind the decision was to empower the SHGs and also to provide the uniforms to the students on time. But both the motives are yet to be realised. According to sources RSK had deposited the amount through the cash transfer into the accounts of the students of 18 districts, including Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Bhind, Burhanpur, Datia, Katni, Khargon, Mandsaur, Morrena, Neemuch, Ratlam, Satna, Seoni and Umaria.
The rest 33 districts including Bhopal, Sehore, Vidisha, Sagar among others were told that the MP rural livelihood mission will provide uniforms. According to sources in these 33 districts very few students have got uniforms while the rest are still waiting for it.
The officials blame the model code of conduct, which led delay in distribution of uniforms. The MCC was enforced from the month of October, but the academic session starts from the month of April and till the month of September six months lies in between. The department heads did not pay any attention into the matter and the students are still without the uniform.
