BHOPAL: Crime branch sleuths nabbed a trader for selling fake branded wristwatches at his shop situated on Hamidia Road area. In all 243 watches worth Rs 2 lakh were recovered from his shop, here on Monday.
According to the ASP (crime) Nischal Jharia, based on the complaint of Vijay Sanglekar, field manager of United Overseas Trade Mark Company, crime branch personnel conducted raid on Gurunanak watch house shop at JK building, Hamidia Road.
The shop is owned by Manoj Asnani, alias Ved Prakash, 40, a resident of One Tree Hills in Bairagarh. Duplicate watches of renowned brands were seized from the shop. The accused was booked under sections 63 and 65 of Copy Right Act.
Asnani was involved in the business of selling duplicate wristwatches for long; 243 watches worth Rs 2 lakh of renowned companies like Casio-G-Shock, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger were seized from the shop, said Jharia.
Police would investigate into the entire network and people involved in fake watch business. It would be investigated if the accused was involved in the manufacturing of watches or he was a part of the supplier and seller chain.
