Bhopal: 21.08 lakh voters to cast vote

BHOPAL: Nearly 21.08 lakh voters will exercise their franchise on May 12 to elect their representative to Parliament from Bhopal Lok Sabha seat. It covers seven assembly constituencies of Bhopal district and a Sehore Vidhan Sabha constituency. There will be 2510 polling booths in the constituency. Collector and district returning officer Sudam Khade informed that notification for Lok Sabha elections would be issued on April 16 and nominations would be filed till April 23. Scrutiny will be done on April 24 and nominations would be withdrawn till April 26. Prohibitory order has been imposed and there will be restriction on use of loudspeakers. Arms license will remain suspended till May 25.

All the arm license holders have been instructed to deposit their arms in respective police stations, said Khade  “Instructions regarding removal of photographs of ministers, politicians from official website of the government have been issued. Directions have been issued to withdraw with immediate effect the advertisement if issued before imposition of Model Code of Conduct.

Instructions have already been given for intensive checking on liquor, banned drugs, cash, etc. and complaint can be lodged on toll free number 1950, returning officers said. “All the IT cells and wings have been made active. Similarly, media cell has been constituted to clear the confusion in voters about EVMs and others,” said Khade.
