BHOPAL: A woman was robbed of her purse carrying Rs 25,000 cash and a mobile phone by two scooter-borne miscreants at Vande Mataram Chouraha near Bittan Market. The woman was robbed while she was on the way to her home on her two-wheeler, said Habibganj police on Tuesday. Police said that the 46-year-old Deepti Mokshkaar, wife of Sanjay, lives in Gulmohar Colony Shahpura. She works with a private firm in MP Nagar. The incident took place at around 7:30pm while she was on her way to home.
She stopped at Bittan Market to buy vegetables after which she kept her purse over the polythene bag carrying vegetables. When she reached Vande Mataram Chouraha at Bittan Market, the accused in the age group of 20-22 years appeared and decamped after snatching her purse. Shocked at the incident she raised an alarm but by then the miscreants managed to escape the spot. The woman could not jot down the registration number of the bike and later approached police to lodge a complaint. She told police that the robbed valuables were worth Rs 25,000. A case under Section 392 of the IPC has been registered and an investigation has been launched.
