Bhopal: 2 killed, several injured as bus plunges into gorge

BHOPAL: Two passengers were killed, while 3-year-old son of one of the deceased was saved after a passenger bus coming from Mandla to Bhopal plunged into a gorge at ‘Nagin Jod’ turning at Pipalwali village on National Highway (NH)-12 under Sultanpur police station in Raisen district at 4 am.  Eleven passengers are injured.

Most of passengers succeeded in catching the next coming passenger bus before the police reached the spot. Shobhna, 18, of Mandla and Reva Das (30) of Seoni, were killed on the spot. Cops rescued Tanu, 3-year-old son of Reva Das.  They also succeeded in saving life of Rajendra Telang of Bhopal.

As per the police, bus MP-04-PA-9951 plunged into 50-ft deep gorge at Pipalwali village at 4 am. Villagers rushed to the rescue of the passengers. SHO Sultanpur Jaipal Inawati said, “Two passengers died on the spot when a passenger bus going to Bhopal from Mandla plunged into a 50ft gorge.”

Raisen SP JS Rajput said, “Accident occurred at ‘Nagin Jod’ on NH-12 at Pipalwali village at 4 am to 4.10 am. Most passengers caught the next bus of the same company, so the exact number of passengers has not been ascertained. With the help of crane, the bus was taken out.”
