BHOPAL: The city Railway police have arrested two members of a gang which used to loot passengers after administering sedatives to them on trains and at Railway platforms. The GRP have also recovered stolen items worth Rs 12 lakh from them.
Those arrested include Mohammed Azad Alam alias Javed, 28, son of Mahid Alam, resident of Kishanganj, Bihar and Mahesh Verma, 39, son of Kishan Swaroop Verma of Shahdara, Delhi.
Acting on a tipoff, Azad was arrested from the New Delhi Railway station. He lives in Wazirpur, Delhi. He admitted to having committed many thefts. He spilled the beans about Mahesh Verma who lives in Laxmi Nagar, East Delhi. Police also arrested Verma. The two accused admitted to having looted seven passengers after administering sedatives to them and committing four thefts. The relevant cases are registered with Bhopal GRP, Itarsi GRP, Gwalior GRP.
