Bhopal: Higher education department (HED) has issued a circular on Wednesday which enables the students who did not secure first division in class 12 to get admission in the excellence colleges. Earlier only such students who have secured first division students were elegible for an admission in excellence colleges.
HED’s decision has anguished the educationists. They have criticised the decision as it defeats the basic purpose of establishing chain of excellence colleges. Retired additional director, HED and educationist, Shambhu Sharan Sharma said that it demonstrates poor state of education in state.
“Now even excellence colleges are not getting students with first division. It means that the seats in excellence colleges have remained vacant. Now the higher education department is relaxing the conditions to fill the vacant seats. This indicates that overall situation is not good,” added Sharma.
He said, “It may have an impact on counseling rounds for admissions in state run colleges. The last date for counseling was August 8, therefore now to get admission in excellence colleges another round of counseling would be required or else how they would fill the vacant seats.”
