BHOPAL: An 18-year-boy died after allegedly drowning in lower lake on Thursday in Jahangirabad locality here. The people near the lake tried to save him but failed.
According to Jahangirabad police, the deceased identified as Anudeep Singh Rathore, a resident of Nishatpura locality here, had gone to the lower lake along with his parents to perform some ritual on Thursday at 10.30 am. During the ritual, he somehow went deep inside the lake despite not knowing swimming.
After a few minutes he started struggling in the deep waters on which his parents shouted for help. The locals present there went inside to rescue him but failed.
After taking his body out of the water they rushed him to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. The police registered the matter under Section 174 of CrPC and investigations are on.
