Bhopal: Public Works Department (PWD) will build a 16-storeyed twin tower near the office of the MP Electricity Board (MPEB) in Tulsi Nagar, Bhopal. There will be 64 D-type houses for government officers in the tower, and the construction work will start from the next month.
PWD minister Sajjan Singh Verma said the Congress had promised in the party manifesto that it would build multi-storeyed buildings after demolishing the old government houses to resolve the housing problems of the government employees. The tower, to be built at a cost of Rs 38 crore, will have all the facilities, and the work will be completed in 18 months.
PWD’s project implementation unit has reserved three acres for the building. In that area, there were 16 government offices which were razed because of their bad shape, and the land was prepared for the twin tower that would have parking facility in the basement and at the ground flood, he said. Besides, the government has decided to construct four 16-storey towers in Indore too. There will be 66 E-type and 66 F-type houses in these towers, and bhoomi-pujan for the construction of the four towers will be done the next month.
