Bhopal: Public works department (PWD) minister Sajjan Singh Verma termed officers and employees in the state as corrupt. The statement comes in wake of numerous transfers being executed by Congress government after assuming power in the state. “15,000 officers and employees were corrupt and that was why they were being transferred,” said the minister interacting with mediapersons here on Monday.

Transfers were done to shift corrupt officers, said Verma, adding that the BJP leaders engaged in corrupt practices with these officers. Verma said the competent officers were sent to loop line by the BJP while the corrupts were given important postings and that is why they are being transferred. Although, Verma could not answer the question when he was asked about the cancelling of some transfer orders.

Taking objection to the Verma’s statement, Leader of opposition (LoP) in Assembly Gopal Bhargava alleged that transfer industry was running in the state. The statement of Verma was an insult to officers and employees in the state, said the BJP leader. Congress government in the state has done more than 1000 transfers so far. These transfer orders were cancelled also. In the recent past, transfer orders of 34 officers of State Police Service were cancelled and amended together.

The state government, amidst controversy on transfers, is mulling over removing ban on transfers so that ministers could transfer government personnel at their own level. As there is ban on transfers presently, their proposals are sent by the departments to the Chief Minister for coordination.

Sachin Sharma is Alirajpur SP

The government on Monday shifted two districts superintendent of police. The SP, PTS Indore Sachin Sharma will replace Vipul Shrivastava as SP of Alirajpur. Shrivastava will take charge from Sharma as PTS Indore SP.
