BHOPAL: Staffers of 108 Ambulance Services, on Saturday, got their heads tonsured to protest the new recruitments by Ziqitza Healthcare, the company running the emergency service in the state, even as health services remain affected in hospitals.

The staffers are on strike since April 26, demanding ‘same work same pay’ and also proper working hours. The workers alleged the contractor company was not paying attention to their demands, though they were putting up their demands regularly in front of the company as well as the National Health Mission officials. But neither the NHM officials nor the company paid attention on their demands, they alleged adding the health minister was branding them culprits, but this was not the truth as they had already informed of their strike schedule to the administration.

On the other side the trauma affected people are facing acute quandary to reach hospitals. They are waiting for hours to reach hospitals. Some of them are taking private vehicles and some are taking Dial-100 help to reach hospitals. Ziqitza Healthcare has issued recruitment advertisement to counter the strike. The NHM officials and health minister have made strict instruction to the company to sort out the strike.

400 AMBULANCES BACK ON ROADS?

It is claimed that of 606 ambulances around 400 has started working, but in Bhopal itself out of 17 ambulances only four are on the roads. Importantly the paramedical staff posted at health facilities are deputed on the ambulances, as a result of which the work at the hospitals is getting affected badly. The staff who are bringing the patients are having to take care of them, because in the hospitals no other staff are present. In this process the second call is getting late.
